Vogelzang Coal / Wood Furnace Steel Shaker Handle. This handle will simply push on to the stub coming off the end of the shaker grate. The handle allows you to shake the interior grate of the furnace from side to side.
It is important to vigorously shake the shaker grate 1/2" from left to right to spill ashes into the ash pan at least once every 12 hours (This should also be done when loading fuel. See Manual for more detailed information).
Rotating the handle from the (5 o'clock to 7 o'clock) position will agitate the coals and spill ashes into ash pan. It is advisable for you to get familiar with the shaker grate operation before firing the unit. Do not allow ashes to buildup to the top of the grate because it can cause the grate to warp and burnout.
