This backup system will allow you enough time to properly shut down your pellet stove if there is a power outage so the house does not fill up with smoke. When the main power to the house is lost, the battery back up will automatically take over. At this point you should properly turn off the stove and it will go through its normal shut down routine. THIS UNIT WILL NOT ALLOW THE STOVE TO CONTINUE TO RUN, IT IS FOR PROPER SHUTDOWN PURPOSES ONLY.
This device only lasts for about 15 minutes which is enough time to properly shut down a stove if the power goes out. The concept is that if you are home the stove would continue to operate as normal and you would then power off your stove which would allow the blowers to operate for about 15 minutes to get the heat and smoke out of the unit. Normally if the stove abruptly loses power it could smoke up the house.
